Letter from an astronaut

Inspired from a poem by Lester Tan, Letter from an astronaut, 

originally published in Ceriph issue one.

You're like the aurora borealis

a shape-shifter that rebels against

constancy but you're beautiful

all the same. I would string the

planets into a necklace for you,

plant a flag on the moon with your

name on it but what does that amount

to now that you're with him and he gives you

all that you want, all that I wish to give

but can't because we fit into each other

like two colliding asteroids. But I am glad

to have been a supernova once in your

universe and all I have now are jars of stardust

which I'll carry with me despite the

heaviness of the fact that stardust

as beautiful as it is still speaks of

the death of a star.

The entire project was mentored by Kelley Cheng (Owner of Press Room), this publication was a collaboration between me and another apprentice also mentored by Kelley Cheng. The final publication was exhibited during NOISE Festival 2011.

The mentorship program is set-up by NAC (National Arts Council).

Strategy:

As SIA Cargo flies to many major destinations and more, they reduce the physical distance felt between countries, making places seem nearer to each other. We aim to show this by using an action to demonstrate how destinations are literally being brought closer with SIA Cargo’s wide network coverage.

As you can see from the FAs, we did our best to present the ads professionally based on our own capability, no equipment or photography studio of any kind was provided. It has been a very very pleasant experience working with my group members. We are very satisfied with the FA we produced despite not winning the competition! :)

The front shows a paper towel perforated line, 

with a teaser that encourages the reader to tear the line.

The back shows a paper towel perforated line as well, 

revealing to reader how their simple action of tearing a paper towel will kill
trees. When they tear the perforated line, the lungs made of tree at the back
is being torn too.

Headline: Would you cut off your own lungs just to use paper towel?

The Little Book Of Typography

A self initiated project. A small book of typography based on the top 100 typefaces.

Advertorial spread for 20/20 magazine

Advertorial spread features a few product packaging designed by 

different product design students. They talk about what they think 

of each of the project and how relevancy is important 

between the product and the packaging.

Artist Feature spread in 20/20 magazine

The spread features a photographer from Russia. 

The 4-page spread includes a brief introduction of him, 

an insight into the inspiration behind his photograph 

and features an interview with him.

Coverpage for the magazine is a photo of a 3D structure that’s made by putting together styrofoam balls, the final structure is suppose to be a mimicry of human cells. Why cells? Well, because cells are what powers us and keeps us going. Like us, designer needs to have that inspiration coming so that they can keep going.
